The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Sandro Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sérgio Campidelis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arlindo Pinheiro's late challenge caught a Engenho LD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arlindo Pinheiro helped the player get up and apologised. Engenho LD's Sandro Faria got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Augusto Silva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jarbas de Alcântara read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Mathias Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mathias Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 26 played minutes Engenho LD got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Rocha. Manfredo Mendes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sandro Faria's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sérgio Campidelis got free with Manfredo Mendes in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandro Faria in the 41st minute of play forced S.D Lambrusco's goalkeeper Manfredo Mendes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, S.D Lambrusco's Arlindo Pinheiro got a free kick in the 41st minute. Manfredo Mendes made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Sérgio Campidelis sent off a good shot on target. In the 48th minute, Raí Marinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Renatinho Bueno was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute, Sérgio Campidelis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manfredo Mendes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Sandro Faria fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfredo Mendes having to interfere. When Sérgio Campidelis came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Engenho LD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sérgio Campidelis couldn't finish the play. Dinei Pombal's late challenge caught a S.D Lambrusco's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. A collision led to S.D Lambrusco getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Arlindo Pinheiro hit a great ball. 81 minutes into the match, Raí Marinho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jarbas de Alcântara. Engenho LD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Raí Marinho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. If Carlos Augusto Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sérgio Campidelis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Manfredo Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Engenho LD's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
