Afonso Salgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durvalino Paraíba having to interfere. 38 minutes into the game, Alex Gaspar recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gilson Simão. Alex Gaspar showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Instituição Mercosul's Gilson Simão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrianinho Lira in the 41st minute of play. Gilson Simão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nico Paiva in the 44th minute. Gilson Simão didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alex Gaspar went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adrianinho Lira made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nico Paiva in the 52nd minute of play forced Instituição Mercosul's goalkeeper Gilson Simão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Iuru FC's zone, Afonso Salgado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Durvalino Paraíba came out of the goal and Afonso Salgado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilson Simão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Gilson Simão came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Iuru FC's Adrianinho Lira. But to his dismay, Adrianinho Lira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. If Afonso Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonso Salgado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Iuru FC had played much better football throughout.
