The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gilson Penha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Ortiz having to interfere. In the 11th minute Gilson Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabrício Ortiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Vasconcelos in the 14th minute of play forced Flamengo's goalkeeper Fabrício Ortiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luisão Nunes's late challenge caught a Flamengo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luisão Nunes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Night Wolves's Luisão Nunes got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute, Zé Augusto de Salles sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Night Wolves's Wilton Paes didn't even have to move. Christiano Toscanos short, quick shot in the 20thth minute got Wilton Paes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Augusto Vasconcelos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Ortiz having to interfere. Gilson Penha struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Fabrício Ortiz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Night Wolves. If Gilson Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adilson Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Percy Maciel kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After 36 played minutes Flamengo got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Toscano. Fabrício Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilson Penha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabrício Ortiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto Vasconcelos in the 41st minute of play. Christiano Toscano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilton Paes having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adilson Eger was the one to do the kick off. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Augusto Vasconcelos got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Christiano Toscano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Night Wolves's Wilton Paes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adilson Eger in the 58th minute of play. Christiano Toscano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilton Paes having to interfere. Night Wolves's Luisão Nunes got his second yellow card of the match in the 70th minute. The referee ordered Luisão Nunes off the ground. In the 71st minute, Luisão Nunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adilson Eger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Wilton Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aloísio Quadros charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aloísio Quadros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Aloísio Quadros hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Night Wolves's Carlos Eduardo Donatello got a free kick in the 85th minute. Christiano Toscano struck a weak shot in the 89th minute.
