But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tostão Travassos couldn't finish the play. In the 7th match minute, Mararupa F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinho Melo to maneuver through the defense. After 10 played minutes Ibiquara got a freekick which was hit by Tostão Travassos. If Jano de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, Mararupa F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Hugo de Castro came free, but Erivaldo Cardozo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hugo de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hugo de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erivaldo Cardozo having to interfere. If Tostão Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 32nd minute, Pedro Luiz Gaúcho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Paulo Brito was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 36 minutes into the game, Hugo de Castro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Erivaldo Cardozo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Ibiquara's zone, Basílio Paulista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Paulo Brito came out of the goal and Basílio Paulista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hugo de Castro was the one to do the kick off. Tostão Travassos scored 1-2 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Erivaldo Cardozo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hugo de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedro Luiz Gaúcho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. José Paulo Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erivaldo Cardozo was out of position in the 63 minute of play, and Hugo de Castro capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Hugo de Castro really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. In the 66th match minute, Ibiquara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Paranaense to maneuver through the defense. José Carlos Pena kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mararupa F.C.'s goalkeeper Erivaldo Cardozo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pedro Luiz Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Basílio Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. José Paulo Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Mararupa F.C.'s Erivaldo Cardozo got control of the ball when Tostão Travassos tried to sneak it across the goal line. Basílio Paulista struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. José Paulo Brito didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mararupa F.C.. If Pedro Luiz Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Ibiquara players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
