Sandro Soares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Luiz Gaúcho in the 3rd minute. Erivaldo Cardozo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fiori Cardozo, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Mararupa F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Luiz Gaúcho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fiori Cardozo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erivaldo Cardozo having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Pedro Luiz Gaúcho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sandro Soares was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Fiori Cardozo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monlolo's supporters rose to their feet, but Fiori Cardozo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erivaldo Cardozo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Basílio Paulista stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Luiz Gaúcho in the 53rd minute of play forced Monlolo's goalkeeper Sandro Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 58 minutes, José Vítor Arantes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Monlolo and the Mararupa F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th minute, José Vítor Arantes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Tasso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Erivaldo Cardozo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Pedro Luiz Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Monlolo's Sandro Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basílio Paulista in the 74th minute of play. In the 79th minute Basílio Paulista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandro Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mararupa F.C.'s Basílio Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Mararupa F.C. booed when Monlolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sabino Loureiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Mararupa F.C.'s Basílio Paulista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sandro Soares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raí Sampaio during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 87th minute of the game. One of Monlolo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Mararupa F.C.:s goal. The referee gave Mararupa F.C. a penalty, 89 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by José Carlos Pena, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Monlolo's Sandro Soares. 3-1. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mararupa F.C.'s goalkeeper Erivaldo Cardozo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Mararupa F.C. had won after a very even match.
