Antônio Carlos Berger hit a great ball. Mané Passos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Carlos Alberto Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Alberto Linhares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zé Roberto Gaúcho's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Mané Passos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Antônio Carlos Berger kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Dragões do Sul's Jorginho Moura couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 24th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Sabadini. Dragões do Sul's Alexsandro Vidal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederico Tavares in the 28th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Antônio Carlos Berger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Roberto Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Sabadini's Carlos Alberto Linhares got control of the ball when Vicente Porto tried to sneak it across the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Sabadini's goalkeeper Carlos Alberto Linhares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mané Passos. Carlos Alberto Linhares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Roberto Gaúcho in the 40th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Júlio Gomes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dragões do Sul's Alexsandro Vidal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Macedo in the 52nd minute of play. If Benedito Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexsandro Vidal made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Benedito Macedo sent off a good shot on target. Alexsandro Vidal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Gomes, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Dragões do Sul's zone, Júlio Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexsandro Vidal came out of the goal and Júlio Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alexsandro Vidal made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Benedito Macedo sent off a good shot on target.
