The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Minadouro EC booed when Vasco was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexsandro Figueiredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vitório Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germano Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Breno Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Leonel Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leonel Vieira was a little too slow when Breno Tavares got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 12th minute. The score was now 2-0. Vitório Sabóia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonsinho Sousa in the 17th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evaristo Brodel in the 18th minute of play forced Vasco's goalkeeper Vitório Sabóia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Breno Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Baltazar Carneiro struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Leonel Vieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vasco. Leonel Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexsandro Figueiredo in the 47th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Vitório Sabóia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Afonsinho Sousa in the 52nd minute. Breno Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Thiago Ribeiro fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vasco's protests and gave Thiago Ribeiro a yellow card for diving instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henrique Reis during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Henrique Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. In the 66th minute, Evaristo Brodel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Minadouro EC's Leonel Vieira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breno Tavares in the 69th minute of play. If Breno Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thiago Ribeiro hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute, Minadouro EC's Virgílio Duarte ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vitório Sabóia. Vitório Sabóia yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Germano Recife kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vitório Sabóia. That made the score 3-2 in the 88 minute of play. Tibúrcio Cavalcante kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. In the 92nd minute of the match Jacinto da Silveira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vitório Sabóia showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Afonsinho Sousa scored 3-3 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vitório Sabóia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
