Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Orlando Gerber started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Marcelo Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celso Dias having to interfere. Claudinei Bueno lost his temper 14 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Licio FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 13th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Caranahyba a penalty, 16 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Pedro Vidal, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Licio FC's Celso Dias. 0-1. Celso Dias came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Caranahyba's Marcelo Galvão. But to his dismay, Marcelo Galvão quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Celso Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Galvão in the 26th minute of play. When Marcelo Galvão came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Caranahyba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelo Galvão couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Licio FC's zone, Marcelo Galvão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Celso Dias came out of the goal and Marcelo Galvão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Celso Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Galvão in the 32nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Caranahyba's zone, Isaltino Saraiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Domingues came out of the goal and Isaltino Saraiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 47 minutes into the match, Isaltino Saraiva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of César Domingues. Caranahyba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Isaltino Saraiva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcelo Galvão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Caranahyba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Capixaba to maneuver through the defense. 61 minutes into the game, one of Caranahyba:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Licio FC a penalty, 62 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ezequiel Meireles, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Caranahyba's César Domingues. 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isaltino Saraiva in the 73rd minute of play forced Caranahyba's goalkeeper César Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. César Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho Branco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Caranahyba's zone, Isaltino Saraiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. César Domingues came out of the goal and Isaltino Saraiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. César Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaltino Saraiva in the 76th minute of play. César Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaltino Saraiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 86 minutes, Francisco Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caranahyba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Capixaba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute, Luiz Paulo Cavalcante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celso Dias made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emerson Mendonça in the 94th minute. When Emerson Mendonça came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Caranahyba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emerson Mendonça couldn't finish the play. Emerson Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Celso Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Caranahyba supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Caranahyba would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
