The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pedro Vidal took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 8th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Reginaldo da Fonseca. Pinheiros FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dorian Cardozo hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. 12 minutes into the match, Caranahyba's goal looked a bit too open when Amauri Negri came free, but César Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th match minute, Caranahyba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Capixaba to maneuver through the defense. Pinheiros FC's Reginaldo da Fonseca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Pinheiros FC from getting a goal against them. César Domingues stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Celso Nóbrega's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. After 35 played minutes Caranahyba got a freekick which was hit by Caio Nunes. In the 41st minute, Francisco Capixaba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Marcelo Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Caranahyba's Marcelo Galvão got a free kick in the 49th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Emerson Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Reginaldo da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes into the match, Pinheiros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Galvão came free, but Reginaldo da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Caranahyba's goal looked a bit too open when Amauri Negri came free, but César Domingues reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Caranahyba getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Alexandre Bittencourt hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Pinheiros FC's zone, Emerson Mendonça stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reginaldo da Fonseca came out of the goal and Emerson Mendonça tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcelo Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginaldo da Fonseca having to interfere. Reginaldo da Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Galvão in the 76th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, Caranahyba's Emerson Mendonça sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Reginaldo da Fonseca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd minute, Caranahyba's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Celso Nóbrega fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Caio Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginaldo da Fonseca having to interfere. Amauri Negri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without César Domingues having to make a save. Amauri Negri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. César Domingues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emerson Mendonça took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reginaldo da Fonseca. Reginaldo da Fonseca dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Caranahyba were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Pinheiros FC for a fine match.
