He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Zamaicare reached it. After a defensive mix-up in Almendra's zone, Gil Gerber stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Vítor Donato came out of the goal and Gil Gerber tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gil Gerber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zamaicare's Gil Gerber got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Gil Gerber put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of João Vítor Donato. The Almendra players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Zamaicare were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gil Gerber stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
