Barca's Matías Matos got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edson Ortiz during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Waldemar de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Messias having to interfere. Gabriel Messias didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Waldemar de Souza went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Ajacio SC's Gabriel Messias got control of the ball when Waldemar de Souza tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gabriel Messias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermínio Vander in the 25th minute of the match. Waldemar de Souza struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Gabriel Messias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barca. Zézinho Peres might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joélson Mumbach. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zézinho Peres ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 30th match minute, Barca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmir Madureira to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Ajacio SC's Anísio Senna tried to score from far away in the 31st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Joélson Mumbach took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artur de Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Barca getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Ramón Nascimento hit a great ball. Joélson Mumbach showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zézinho Peres in the 42nd minute of the match. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by Barca's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Anísio Senna was slow to take the kick. During this time Ajacio SC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Anísio Senna got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Joélson Mumbach quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Waldemar de Souza hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hermínio Vander made a kick off. Artur de Barros succeeded in the game's 58th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. Joélson Mumbach showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edson Ortiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Zézinho Peres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Joélson Mumbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joélson Mumbach made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Zézinho Peres sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Barca getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. If Hermínio Vander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
