Cesinha Carneiro made a fantastic save in the 2nd minute, when Sílvio Luís Peixoto sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto de Godoi in the 6th minute of play forced Mares's goalkeeper Vivaldo do Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alvino's Adrianinho Terra got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vivaldo do Vale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto de Godoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vivaldo do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Duarte Pinheiro hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. A collision led to Mares getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Zeca Marques hit a great ball. In the 19th minute of the match Arthur Pirani sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vivaldo do Vale skillfully saved the ball. José Nogueira hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Erasmo Linares was extremely unlucky when he, in the 26th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Vivaldo do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurinho Tande in the 29th minute of play. Vivaldo do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Humberto Jacinto took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Cesinha Carneiro to make any attempt to save it. 36 minutes into the match, Adrianinho Terra had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vivaldo do Vale. Mares's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrianinho Terra was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Vivaldo do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrianinho Terra, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. 44 minutes into the game, Alvino's Adrianinho Terra nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vivaldo do Vale made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Humberto Jacinto made a kick off. With a little luck, Mares's Vivaldo do Vale got control of the ball when José Nogueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Humberto Jacinto came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Mares fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Humberto Jacinto couldn't finish the play. Adrianinho Terra struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Vivaldo do Vale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alvino. 65 minutes into the match, Augusto de Godoi notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Mares's Vivaldo do Vale. Vivaldo do Vale was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Mares booed when Alvino was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arthur Pirani didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Alvino's Hílton Zanette got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Mares's Vivaldo do Vale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Mares from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Mares getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Luís Donato hit a great ball. 78 minutes into the match, Mares's goal looked a bit too open when José Nogueira came free, but Vivaldo do Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vivaldo do Vale was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Adrianinho Terra showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 81 minute of play. In the 85th minute Sílvio Luís Peixoto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesinha Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Alvino's Hílton Zanette got a free kick in the 87th minute. After 88 played minutes Alvino got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Pirani. Alvino's Cesinha Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erasmo Linares in the 90th minute of play. Augusto de Godoi in the 93rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Vivaldo do Vale, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 95th minute, Alvino's Adrianinho Terra ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vivaldo do Vale. Vivaldo do Vale yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-6.
