Jeremias Barreto was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 16 minutes into the match, Red Hot Chili Peppers's goal looked a bit too open when Luciano Guerra came free, but Elder Antunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Luciano Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Egídio Arruda's late challenge caught a Red Hot Chili Peppers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Egídio Arruda helped the player get up and apologised. Egídio Arruda hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute Luciano Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elder Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jeremias Barreto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nestor Prestes went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell André Paraíba to make the kick off. Washington Zanette hit a great ball. 77 minutes into the match, Red Hot Chili Peppers's goalkeeper Elder Antunes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luciano Guerra. After a rather tough play, Red Hot Chili Peppers's Fernando Alves got a free kick in the 83rd minute. If Délio Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the game, Fernando Alves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Red Hot Chili Peppers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abico the free kick. After a rather tough play, Red Hot Chili Peppers's Fernando Alves got a free kick in the 91st minute. 93 minutes into the match, Luciano Guerra had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elder Antunes. Red Hot Chili Peppers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luciano Guerra was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
