The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Queimasangue's Afonso Cosme saw an opening behind the goalie Adalberto Catarinense in the 3rdth minute and tried to shoot past into the top right corner, but with great reflexes Adalberto Catarinense with one arm managed to save the shot in the last secound. Valdir dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Nilton Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valdir dos Santos struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Nilton Peres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Xambioa AD. 23 minutes into the match, Xambioa AD's Valdir dos Santos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nilton Peres narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 27th minute Afonso Cosme shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adalberto Catarinense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cássio de Sena made a great header on Queimasangue's corner, it was just that Xambioa AD's Adalberto Catarinense managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to Queimasangue getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Décio Saldanha hit a great ball. If Valdir dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Queimasangue's goal looked a bit too open when Valdir dos Santos came free, but Nilton Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Cosme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adalberto Catarinense having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eusébio Quadros during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eusébio Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Afonso Cosme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Queimasangue's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Cosme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adalberto Catarinense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdir dos Santos to strike the kick off in the second half. After 56 played minutes Xambioa AD got a freekick which was hit by Rafinha Gerber. Valdir dos Santos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nilton Peres came out and tried to block the shot, but Valdir dos Santos slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 59th minute. João Augusto Mello's late challenge caught a Xambioa AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Augusto Mello helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Queimasangue's João Augusto Mello got a free kick in the 65th minute. Valdir dos Santos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Queimasangue's Nilton Peres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Queimasangue from getting a goal against them. In the 71st minute, Rafinha Gerber hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 72 minutes into the match, Xambioa AD's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Nascimento came free, but Adalberto Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74thth minute of the game Afonso Cosme who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Xambioa AD's Adalberto Catarinense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Adalberto Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nilton Peres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdir dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Adalberto Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Nascimento in the 82nd minute of the match. The supporters of Queimasangue booed when Xambioa AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Garcia didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Queimasangue's Cássio de Sena broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Xambioa AD's zone, Afonso Cosme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adalberto Catarinense came out of the goal and Afonso Cosme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 92 minutes into the match, Xambioa AD's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Cosme came free, but Adalberto Catarinense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Xambioa AD's Augusto Garcia got a free kick in the 92nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Nascimento in the 94th minute of play forced Xambioa AD's goalkeeper Adalberto Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
