After a defensive mix-up in Vazante AD's zone, Alex Nascimento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mateus Gaspar came out of the goal and Alex Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 21 minutes, Eugênio Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vazante AD and the Queimasangue players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 34th match minute, Queimasangue was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. If Marcelinho Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 43 minutes into the match, Queimasangue's goalkeeper Nilton Peres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Francisco de Andrade. Queimasangue's Nilton Peres proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Queimasangue from getting a goal against them. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Alex Nascimento who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Mateus Gaspar when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After having played for 54 minutes, João Francisco de Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vazante AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Francisco de Andrade was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vazante AD's Mateus Gaspar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Vazante AD from getting a goal against them. Alex Nascimento's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 61stth minute, Mateus Gaspar skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
