After 2 played minutes Catuira got a freekick which was hit by Enrique Pernambucano. Sérgio Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Amaral having to interfere. Catuira's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Sérgio Guedes 8 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. After some careless play in the Murupe SC defense, Tibúrcio Marquez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silvinho Meireles. The Murupe SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silvinho Meireles should have stopped the shot. Tibúrcio Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricardinho Garcia hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Claudinho Félix shot from long distance in the 24th minute, but Baltazar Amaral was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. Silvinho Meireles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tibúrcio Marquez in the 26th minute of play. Murupe SC's Silvinho Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tibúrcio Marquez in the 27th minute of play. Silvinho Meireles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tibúrcio Marquez's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. The audience was convinced that Abelardo Queiroz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Silvinho Meireles was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Catuira's Ademir Recife got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tibúrcio Marquez in the 40th minute of play forced Murupe SC's goalkeeper Silvinho Meireles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute of the match Adolfo Matos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Baltazar Amaral showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 43rd match minute, Catuira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abelardo Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. Silvinho Meireles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredinho de Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sérgio Guedes to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Catuira's Alfredinho de Amorim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Silvinho Meireles narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 57 minutes, Cacá Romero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Murupe SC and the Catuira players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cacá Romero kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 63rd minute Sérgio Guedes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baltazar Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Silvinho Meireles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tibúrcio Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Otávio Freitas scored 2-1 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Baltazar Amaral, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 70 minutes, Adolfo Matos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Murupe SC and the Catuira players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Catuira booed when Murupe SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adolfo Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Silvinho Meireles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tibúrcio Marquez in the 74th minute of the match. If Tibúrcio Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tibúrcio Marquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvinho Meireles having to interfere. Tibúrcio Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Silvinho Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 96 minutes into the match, Sérgio Guedes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Baltazar Amaral. Catuira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sérgio Guedes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1.
