If Ulisses Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guaraipos's Lino Goiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Guaraipos from getting a goal against them. Durvalino Novaes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of Lino Goiano when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Renato Paes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manolo Dracena in the 17th minute of the match. Guaraipos's Walmyr Mesquita got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Renato Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manolo Dracena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manolo Dracena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Renato Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Walmyr Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Walmyr Mesquita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guaraipos's supporters rose to their feet, but Walmyr Mesquita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renato Paes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Deivid Saraiva kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. The supporters of Guaraipos booed when Canatiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Figueiredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 46 minutes into the match, Guaraipos's Kauã Lopes broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After a rather tough play, Guaraipos's Wilson Hoffmann got a free kick in the 55th minute. Canatiba's Ulisses Marques got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 62nd minute Durvalino Novaes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lino Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 64 minutes of play, Canatiba's Ulisses Marques made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lino Goiano was left in no man's land by his defense there! 68 minutes into the match, Guaraipos's goal looked a bit too open when Durvalino Novaes came free, but Lino Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute, Wilson Hoffmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Canatiba's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Manolo Dracena scored to the left of an out of position Renato Paes, making the score, 2-1. Guaraipos's Lino Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulisses Marques in the 74th minute of play. Deivid Saraiva charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Deivid Saraiva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 76th minute, Deivid Saraiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Canatiba getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Guaraipos's Kauã Lopes couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Canatiba. Guaraipos's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
