After 2 played minutes, Veados's Giovanni Marinho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ciro Lago came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Veados reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dráuzio Diniz in the 4th minute of play forced Brebe's goalkeeper Ciro Lago to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Nestor Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcus Dantas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brebe! After having played for 28 minutes, Oswaldo Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brebe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oswaldo Guerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Oswaldo Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marcus Dantas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Ciro Lago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Veados's zone, Oswaldo Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomás Severo came out of the goal and Oswaldo Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Nestor Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Oswaldo Guerra who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Thomás Severo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 60 minutes, Oswaldo Guerra made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Veados's Thomás Severo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 64 minutes into the match, Veados's goalkeeper Thomás Severo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oswaldo Guerra. Thomás Severo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oswaldo Guerra went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Thomás Severo made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Oswaldo Guerra sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Oswaldo Guerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brebe's supporters rose to their feet, but Oswaldo Guerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thomás Severo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roger das Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roger das Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brebe! The referee gave Veados a penalty, 92 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Claudinei Monteiro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Brebe's Ciro Lago. 2-3. In the 96th minute Nestor Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomás Severo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match was over Brebe could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Veados throughout the match.
