After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Sérgio Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sidrolandia's supporters rose to their feet, but Sérgio Marinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelsinho Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Milho's Nelsinho Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benê Quaresma in the 11th minute of play. After having played for 14 minutes, Benê Quaresma managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sidrolandia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benê Quaresma was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Milho's Nelsinho Montenegro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Milho from getting a goal against them. In the 22ndth minute of the game Dênis Leme who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sidrolandia's Silvério Terra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 30th minute, one of Sidrolandia:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sidrolandia. Silvério Terra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dráuzio Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. The supporters of Milho booed when Sidrolandia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Macedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 1-1 became the score in the 46th minute when Sérgio Marinho elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benê Quaresma was the one to do the kick off.
