After a defensive mix-up in Matapagipe AD's zone, Luiz Paulo Breckenfeld stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivo Mineiro came out of the goal and Luiz Paulo Breckenfeld tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Matapagipe AD's Alan Dias got a free kick in the 26th minute. Ivo Mineiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton Vasconcelos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Célio da Costa in the 37th minute of play forced Matapagipe AD's goalkeeper Ivo Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elias Vides in the 42nd minute of play forced Matapagipe AD's goalkeeper Ivo Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 57thth minute of the game Nilton Vasconcelos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matapagipe AD's Ivo Mineiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Matapagipe AD's Ivo Mineiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Matapagipe AD from getting a goal against them. Nilton Vasconcelos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matapagipe AD's Ivo Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilton Vasconcelos in the 67th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilton Vasconcelos in the 70th minute of play forced Matapagipe AD's goalkeeper Ivo Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Paulo Breckenfeld got free with Ivo Mineiro in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Matapagipe AD's Ivo Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilton Vasconcelos in the 78th minute of play. Amadeu Ribeiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 82nd minute, Rodolfo Montenegro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Matapagipe AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilton Vasconcelos in the 87th minute of play forced Matapagipe AD's goalkeeper Ivo Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Viramao's Romeu Prestes broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nilton Vasconcelos in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivo Mineiro saved Matapagipe AD from getting behind. 96 minutes into the match, Viramao's Nilton Vasconcelos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivo Mineiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
