After 9 played minutes Coreahu got a freekick which was hit by Serginho Nascimento. Pedro Barral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Luiz Secco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Meleiro's Pedro Barral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Luiz Secco in the 15th minute of play. Fernandinho Novaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Barral having to interfere. The supporters of Coreahu booed when Meleiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Luiz Secco, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the game, one of Meleiro:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Jairo Toscano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jairo Toscano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Iuri Moraes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44thth minute of the game André Luiz Secco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Meleiro's Pedro Barral was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fernandinho Novaes might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Barral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fernandinho Novaes ran back to his position shaking his head. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jairo Toscano to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Meleiro's Reinaldo Barbosa got a free kick in the 57th minute. In the 60th minute André Luiz Secco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Barral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Carlos Augusto Britto fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Coreahu's protests and gave Carlos Augusto Britto a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th match minute, Coreahu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Augusto Britto to maneuver through the defense. Coreahu's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
