The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Goiaz booed when Tranqueiras SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldo Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osmar Matorin struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Luiz Gustavo Tinoco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tranqueiras SC. Osmar Matorin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Gustavo Tinoco having to make a save. Goiaz's Luiz Gustavo Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Osmar Matorin in the 13th minute of play. When Ramón Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Tranqueiras SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramón Carneiro couldn't finish the play. In the 15th minute Osmar Matorin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Gustavo Tinoco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Egídio Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Eliseu Moreira made a huge save. 18 minutes into the match, Tranqueiras SC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Pombal came free, but Eliseu Moreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Egídio Montenegro succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 20th playminute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcus Pombal in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eliseu Moreira saved Tranqueiras SC from getting behind. If Ramón Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcus Pombal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Eliseu Moreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseu Moreira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Egídio Montenegro in the 30th minute. If Egídio Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Tranqueiras SC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Artur Paranaense hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute of the match Goiaz got a corner. Tranqueiras SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Walmir Pinho ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Ramón Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ramón Carneiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ramón Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Gustavo Tinoco having to interfere. Luiz Gustavo Tinoco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramón Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. With his leg Luiz Gustavo Tinoco managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Tranqueiras SC's Osmar Matorin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Ronaldo Rodrigues fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tranqueiras SC's protests and gave Ronaldo Rodrigues a yellow card for diving instead. In the 64th minute, Ronaldo Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Osmar Matorin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Luiz Gustavo Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ramón Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 70th match minute, Goiaz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson Palmeira to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 73 minutes, Ramón Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tranqueiras SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramón Carneiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 74 played minutes Goiaz got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Mendonça. Osmar Matorin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Luiz Gustavo Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Osmar Matorin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Luiz Gustavo Tinoco made a huge save. After 83 played minutes Goiaz got a freekick which was hit by Ademir Queirós. In the 86th match minute, Goiaz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Pombal to maneuver through the defense. Marcus Pombal kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Goiaz fans cheered their team off the field, for while Tranqueiras SC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
