João Lara struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Elói Castro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paissandu. If Remo Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernardo Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Renatinho Vinhas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Remo Santana could shoot a difficult shot in the 17th minute, which Elói Castro however easily saved by the left post. If João Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Remo Santana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Elói Castro made a huge save. Elói Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Lara in the 23rd minute of the match. The supporters of Matai SC booed when Paissandu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Augusto Travassos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Remo Santana did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Elói Castro 35 minutes into the match. Elói Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Lara, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Renatinho Vinhas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernardo Schmidt in the 44th minute of the match.

Renatinho Vinhas made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Emerson Paulista sent off a good shot on target. In the 68th minute João Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elói Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bernardo Schmidt in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Renatinho Vinhas saved Paissandu from getting behind. If Bernardo Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, João Lara put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Elói Castro. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
