Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Michel Sá started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, Universo's Aírton Miranda got control of the ball when Horácio Moreno tried to sneak it across the goal line. Michel Sá fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aírton Miranda having to interfere. In the 10th minute, José Paulo Braga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Michel Sá managed to get in a good position for a shot. Faveirinha's supporters rose to their feet, but Michel Sá was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aírton Miranda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Michel Sá's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 15thth minute, Aírton Miranda skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Charles de Toledo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. A hard shot 20 in the game by Horácio Moreno from a close distance when the talented Aírton Miranda managed to make a qualified save. Universo's players were relieved. Aírton Miranda was out of position in the 23 minute of play, and Horácio Moreno capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Horácio Moreno really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. José Paulo Braga struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Amadeu Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Universo. Horácio Moreno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Aírton Miranda made a huge save. In the 38th match minute, Faveirinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horácio Moreno to maneuver through the defense. If Murillo Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Paulo Braga made a kick off. Michel Sá sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 57 minutes into the match, Universo's goal looked a bit too open when Michel Sá came free, but Aírton Miranda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Faveirinha booed when Universo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charles de Toledo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amadeu Medeiros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Murillo Negri in the 64th minute. Amadeu Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Paulo Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute, Dagoberto Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Faveirinha getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Dagoberto Carvalho hit a great ball. Amadeu Medeiros came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Universo's José Paulo Braga. But to his dismay, José Paulo Braga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. With a little luck, Faveirinha's Amadeu Medeiros got control of the ball when Murillo Negri tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Universo's zone, Horácio Moreno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aírton Miranda came out of the goal and Horácio Moreno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Universo's Aírton Miranda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horácio Moreno in the 79th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Michel Sá's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aírton Miranda was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Universo's Armandinho de Alcântara got a free kick in the 87th minute. After 88 played minutes, Faveirinha's Alfredo Torres shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Aírton Miranda came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Faveirinha reached it. The Faveirinha fans' excitement grew in the 94th match minute when Faveirinha's Michel Sá looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When the referee ended the match the Faveirinha players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
