The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Souzas SS's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sílvio das Neves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Quirino, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Tiaguinho de Sena received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Geraldo Freitas came out and tried to block the shot, but Tiaguinho de Sena slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 7th minute. Sílvio das Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Júlio Quirino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sílvio das Neves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmílson Félix in the 17th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Souzas SS's goalkeeper Geraldo Freitas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by André Luís Tepedino. The audience was convinced that Tiaguinho de Sena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geraldo Freitas was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. After 30 minutes of play, Souzas SS's Edmílson Félix made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, André Luís Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ibiassuce's supporters rose to their feet, but André Luís Tepedino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geraldo Freitas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ibiassuce's Tiaguinho de Sena got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Júlio Vasconcelos hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. André Luís Tepedino succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 49th playminute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tiaguinho de Sena was the one to do the kick off. With his leg Sílvio das Neves managed to avoid a goal in the 55thth minute, when Souzas SS's Júlio Quirino fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Júlio Quirino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmílson Félix was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 67th minute. Souzas SS's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Edmílson Félix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio das Neves having to interfere. The audience was convinced that André Luís Tepedino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geraldo Freitas was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Tiaguinho de Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Geraldo Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 84 minutes, Tiaguinho de Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ibiassuce's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiaguinho de Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 94 played minutes Souzas SS got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Loureiro. Ibiassuce were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Souzas SS for a fine match.
