A collision led to Carreiras getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Frédson Guedes hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Freitas in the 6th minute of play forced Carreiras's goalkeeper Alfredinho de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Carreiras's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio Freitas came free, but Alfredinho de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Lumiar's zone, Sílvio Luís Velloso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elder Vides came out of the goal and Sílvio Luís Velloso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Laércio Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredinho de Queirós having to interfere. João Adolfo Tande struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Alfredinho de Queirós didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lumiar. In the 22nd minute, Abel Pinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 23rd minute, Baltazar Vasconcelos sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Carreiras's Alfredinho de Queirós didn't even have to move. Edmundo Quirino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elder Vides read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Elder Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Quirino in the 32nd minute of play. Elder Vides showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Quirino, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. If Laércio Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alfredinho de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laércio Freitas in the 43rd minute of the match. Sílvio Luís Velloso struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Elder Vides didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carreiras. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 61 minutes, Frédson Guedes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carreiras and the Lumiar players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute, Frédson Guedes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elder Vides was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alfredinho de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Adolfo Tande, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Laércio Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Sílvio Luís Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carreiras's supporters rose to their feet, but Sílvio Luís Velloso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elder Vides breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Edmundo Quirino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 90 minutes, Sílvio Luís Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carreiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Luís Velloso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 95th match minute, Lumiar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bebeto Freire to maneuver through the defense. Sílvio Luís Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Elder Vides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
