Alberto Maia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Eduardo de Queirós made a huge save. A collision led to Melquiades getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Rafael de Senna hit a great ball. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Pavucu's goalkeeper Eduardo de Queirós, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Alberto Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hugo Cardoso came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Pavucu's Hélio Fontes. But to his dismay, Hélio Fontes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After having played for 29 minutes, Hélio Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pavucu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélio Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rafael de Senna's late challenge caught a Pavucu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rafael de Senna helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Melquiades's zone, Emílio Barbosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hugo Cardoso came out of the goal and Emílio Barbosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Melquiades's Hugo Cardoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Melquiades from getting a goal against them. Hélio Fontes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Hugo Cardoso when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With an all-out effort, Pavucu's Hugo Cardoso threw himself towards the right post 97 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emílio Barbosa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
