Olívio Pontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sodrelandia SC's Cristiano Vergílio got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edvaldo Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Walmyr Schmidt in the 11th minute of the match. Walmyr Schmidt struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Edvaldo Amaral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sodrelandia SC. If Walmyr Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th match minute, Jardinopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelo Botelho to maneuver through the defense. In the 18thth minute of the game Walmyr Schmidt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jardinopolis's Edvaldo Amaral was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Walmyr Schmidt did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Edvaldo Amaral 19 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute Alessandro da Fonseca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christiano Fantini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 25 minutes, Cristiano Vergílio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sodrelandia SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristiano Vergílio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edvaldo Amaral stood somewhat misplaced when Walmyr Schmidt came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 28 minute. A hard shot 32 in the game by Cristiano Vergílio from a close distance when the talented Edvaldo Amaral managed to make a qualified save. Jardinopolis's players were relieved. Christiano Fantini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olívio Pontes in the 39th minute of play. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Sodrelandia SC's goalkeeper Christiano Fantini, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edvaldo Amaral made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Cristiano Vergílio sent off a good shot on target. João Adolfo Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Sodrelandia SC were furious when Genílson Chaves was red carded, 48 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sodrelandia SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty! Válbson de Senna walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cristiano Vergílio made a kick off. Sodrelandia SC's Christiano Fantini proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Sodrelandia SC from getting a goal against them. Edvaldo Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristiano Vergílio in the 66th minute of play. Carlos Fernando Loyola's late challenge caught a Jardinopolis's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Fernando Loyola helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Jardinopolis booed when Sodrelandia SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Fernando Loyola didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Olívio Pontes came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Jardinopolis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olívio Pontes couldn't finish the play. 74 minutes into the game, Alessandro da Fonseca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jardinopolis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sodrelandia SC the free kick. In the 77th minute Cristiano Vergílio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvaldo Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78th minute, Olívio Pontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sodrelandia SC's Christiano Fantini proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Sodrelandia SC from getting a goal against them. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jardinopolis's goalkeeper Edvaldo Amaral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Christiano Fantini came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Jardinopolis's Cássio Queirós. But to his dismay, Cássio Queirós quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Alessandro da Fonseca kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Christiano Fantini. That made the score 2-2 in the 93 minute of play. Cristiano Vergílio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edvaldo Amaral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 98th minute of play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
