Pedrinho Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amauri Trigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gernando Neves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Toninho Pena read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Toninho Pena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizão Dante in the 26th minute of play. Gernando Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st minute, the referee gave Candoso SC a penalty. Hamílton Leão looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Toninho Pena. A collision led to Candoso SC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play.
