When Juvenal Madureira fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Consuelo AD's protests and gave Juvenal Madureira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Pupunha AD booed when Consuelo AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juvenal Madureira didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Pupunha AD's Edson Galvão in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Consuelo AD's goalie prevented a goal. Virgílio do Nascimento in the 14thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. With a little luck, Consuelo AD's Bebeto Sampaio got control of the ball when Virgílio do Nascimento tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 19 played minutes Consuelo AD got a freekick which was hit by Juvenal Madureira. After having played for 21 minutes, Edson Galvão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pupunha AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edson Galvão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vinícius de Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amauri Viana having to interfere. Juninho Travassos hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 27th match minute, Pupunha AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manoel Meira to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Consuelo AD's Afonso Barral tried to score from far away in the 28th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Amauri Viana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Mangueira in the 29th minute of the match. After 34 played minutes Pupunha AD got a freekick which was hit by Virgílio do Nascimento. Vinícius de Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. During the 41st minute of the match Juvenal Madureira completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Juvenal Madureira a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Pupunha AD booed when Consuelo AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juvenal Madureira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The audience was convinced that Virgílio do Nascimento's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bebeto Sampaio was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. In the 56th minute, Edson Galvão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bebeto Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edson Galvão, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 87thth minute of the game Edson Galvão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Consuelo AD's Bebeto Sampaio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 92 minutes, Edson Galvão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Amauri Viana came out of the goal and Vinícius de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Consuelo AD supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Consuelo AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
