When Frank Fontes fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Matarandiba's protests and gave Frank Fontes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th minute, Frank Fontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Guatuba's Fausto Toledo threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Manuel Lopes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Guatuba booed when Matarandiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Matarandiba's goalkeeper Fausto Toledo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bernardo Barros. Fausto Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Lopes in the 17th minute of the match. Aírton Almeida's late challenge caught a Matarandiba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aírton Almeida helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd minute Manuel Lopes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fausto Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Lopes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernardo Barros took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fausto Toledo. Fausto Toledo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Beto Sena kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Franklin da Cunha notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Guatuba's Richard Moreira. Richard Moreira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 38th minute, Bernardo Barros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bernardo Barros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fausto Toledo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Franklin da Cunha to strike the kick off in the second half. Cristiano Lara's late challenge caught a Guatuba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 62 played minutes, Matarandiba's Eduardo Teixeira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Richard Moreira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Matarandiba reached it. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guatuba's goalkeeper Richard Moreira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Manuel Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd match minute, Matarandiba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renato Secco to maneuver through the defense. Sidney Gerber kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. The supporters of Matarandiba booed when Guatuba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natanael Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fiori de Sena might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Richard Moreira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fiori de Sena ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 91 minutes, Fiori de Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Matarandiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fiori de Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Richard Moreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franklin da Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
