The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee ignored Godinho's protests and gave Horácio Seco a yellow card for diving instead. Dedê Bittencourt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilton de Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Mazinho Freire's late challenge caught a Santissimo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mazinho Freire helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Godinho's Mazinho Freire got a free kick in the 39th minute. Tostão Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Marcinho Lucas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tostão Berger blasted a shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juan Soeiro having to make a save. An unexpected shot in the 49th minute by Marcinho Lucas got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilton de Queiroz made a kick off. Dedê Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Dedê Pinheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, Godinho's Wilton de Queiroz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dedê Bittencourt narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
