Catinga's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Serginho Senna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Artur Galvão put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Albertino Guerra. Ulisses Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serginho Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. If Serginho Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 21 minutes into the match, Catinga's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Donato came free, but Ulisses Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eliseu Mota charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseu Mota the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Araua getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Eliseu Mota hit a great ball. Catinga's Vítor Marquez couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 25th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Araua. Otávio Cosme scored 2-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Albertino Guerra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Artur Galvão in the 31stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Albertino Guerra, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romeu Nunes during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Araua getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Romeu Nunes hit a great ball. When Otávio Cosme came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Catinga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Otávio Cosme couldn't finish the play. Otávio Cosme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albertino Guerra having to interfere. Catinga's Basílio Alagoano got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 48 minutes into the game, Romeu Nunes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Ulisses Viana was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Catinga's Ulisses Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Donato in the 54th minute of play. Eliseu Mota was shown his second yellow card after 56 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 57 played minutes Araua got a freekick which was hit by Eliseu Mota. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Serginho Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Araua's supporters rose to their feet, but Serginho Senna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulisses Viana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Serginho Senna got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 67 minutes into the match, Araua's goal looked a bit too open when Otávio Cosme came free, but Albertino Guerra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Artur Galvão kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Artur Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Otávio Cosme might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albertino Guerra. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Otávio Cosme ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Araua's zone, Gil Quirino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albertino Guerra came out of the goal and Gil Quirino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Catinga booed when Araua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeu Nunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Artur Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 90th minute, Basílio Alagoano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Catinga's Otávio Cosme in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Araua's goalie prevented a goal. After 94 played minutes Araua got a freekick which was hit by Romeu Nunes. Otávio Cosme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Albertino Guerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
