After a defensive mix-up in Melancia SS's zone, Erivaldo Vianna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedrinho Vidal came out of the goal and Erivaldo Vianna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilton Tepedino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cícero Diniz in the 5th minute. After 7 minutes, Sílvio Prado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Melancia SS and the Cajoby players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 7 played minutes Melancia SS got a freekick which was hit by Sílvio Prado. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Dorian Quadros put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Pedrinho Vidal. When Cícero Diniz came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Melancia SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cícero Diniz couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dorian Quadros in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedrinho Vidal saved Melancia SS from getting behind. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cajoby's goalkeeper Wilton Tepedino, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cícero Diniz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Wilton Tepedino skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A collision led to Cajoby getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Lino Pires hit a great ball. Wilton Tepedino made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Cícero Diniz sent off a good shot on target. Cícero Dinizs short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Wilton Tepedino to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Baltazar Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alfredinho de Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Cajoby's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vágner Ferreira in the 42nd minute. After 44 played minutes Cajoby got a freekick which was hit by Lino Pires.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erivaldo Vianna stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Cajoby's Dorian Quadros dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Erivaldo Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrinho Vidal having to interfere. Pedrinho Vidal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erivaldo Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manolo dos Santos hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Alfredinho de Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Cajoby's Vágner Ferreira broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After having played for 64 minutes, Dorian Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cajoby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dorian Quadros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Manolo dos Santos fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Melancia SS's protests and gave Manolo dos Santos a yellow card for diving instead. Manolo dos Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Pedrinho Vidal made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Dorian Quadros sent off a good shot on target. Lino Pires was shown his second yellow card after 70 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. With a little luck, Melancia SS's Pedrinho Vidal got control of the ball when Dorian Quadros tried to sneak it across the goal line. Erivaldo Vianna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedrinho Vidal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Baltazar Chaves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
