After 3 played minutes Buriti SS got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Carioca. The supporters of Mutuca SS booed when Buriti SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvério Velloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 10 minutes, Sandrinho Vides managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mutuca SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandrinho Vides was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulinho Moura in the 12th minute of play forced Buriti SS's goalkeeper Benê Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute, Afonso Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 19 minutes, Sandrinho Vides mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mutuca SS and the Buriti SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 19th match minute, Mutuca SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandrinho Vides to maneuver through the defense. Luiz Fabiano Amaral charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luiz Fabiano Amaral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd match minute, Mutuca SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luiz Fabiano Amaral to maneuver through the defense. 26 minutes into the match, Sandrinho Vides notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Buriti SS's Benê Cruz. Benê Cruz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ediberto Hames came free with the goalkeeper in the 30th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Reginaldo Cearense could save by the left post. The audience was convinced that Paulinho Moura's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benê Cruz was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Mutuca SS's zone, Ediberto Hames stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reginaldo Cearense came out of the goal and Ediberto Hames tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Reginaldo Cearense made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Ediberto Hames sent off a good shot on target. Benê Cruz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulinho Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olívio Cruz struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Reginaldo Cearense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Buriti SS. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sandrinho Vides made a kick off. Reginaldo Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olívio Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mutuca SS's Reginaldo Cearense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ediberto Hames in the 55th minute of play. Paulinho Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Benê Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Olívio Cruz came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Buriti SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olívio Cruz couldn't finish the play. Reginaldo Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ediberto Hames, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mutuca SS's Paulinho Moura got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Reginaldo Cearense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ediberto Hames in the 67th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Ediberto Hames had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reginaldo Cearense. Mutuca SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ediberto Hames was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 73rd minute, Paulinho Moura made a precise shot to the right of Benê Cruz. Buriti SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Sandrinho Vides received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Benê Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute there was a penalty for Buriti SS. Gil Teles stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Reginaldo Cearense. 2-2. 98 minutes into the game, Buriti SS's Ediberto Hames nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reginaldo Cearense made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2.
