In the 28th minute, Douglas Vander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ademir Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizinho da Silveira having to interfere. Luizinho da Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dorival Damião in the 35th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Durvalino Barbosa during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 37th match minute, Tubibau AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durvalino Barbosa to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute Gugu Macedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aílton Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Ratos EC's zone, Ademir Leão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luizinho da Silveira came out of the goal and Ademir Leão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thomás Guimarães hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Dorival Damião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizinho da Silveira having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dorival Damião was the one to do the kick off. If Dorival Damião had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dorival Damião struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Luizinho da Silveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tubibau AD. Ediberto Linares's late challenge caught a Ratos EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
