When Jorginho Tepedino came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Ibotirama EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorginho Tepedino couldn't finish the play. Jorginho Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorginho Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Juvenal Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Ibotirama EC booed when Taquara AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Corrêa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juvenal Quirino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorginho Tepedino's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Luís Fabiano do Valle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Claudinho Araújo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Taquara AD's goalkeeper Juvenal Quirino, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Taquara AD's Almir Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jorginho Tepedino in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juvenal Quirino saved Taquara AD from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gilmar Peres during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 46 played minutes Taquara AD got a freekick which was hit by Gilmar Peres.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jorginho Tepedino to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Jorginho Tepedino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juvenal Quirino was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Luís Fabiano do Valle charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee ignored Taquara AD's protests and gave Dionísio Ramalho a yellow card for diving instead. After 83 played minutes Taquara AD got a freekick which was hit by Dionísio Ramalho. João Vítor Andrade made a great header on Ibotirama EC's corner, it was just that Taquara AD's Juvenal Quirino managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 87th minute of the match Baltazar Pombal shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juvenal Quirino showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ibotirama EC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
