Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Leopoldo Madureira kicked off to start the match. Kaká Brito was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 4th minute. Valentin's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When Kaká Brito came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Valentin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kaká Brito couldn't finish the play. Jacinto Pernambucano took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tostão do Nascimento. Tostão do Nascimento dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Pernambucano in the 14th minute of play forced Valentin's goalkeeper Tostão do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the game, Sílvio Luiz de Alcântara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Areiao SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Valentin the free kick. In the 16th minute, one of Areiao SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Areiao SC. In the 20th match minute, Valentin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Roberto Coutinho to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Pernambucano in the 27th minute of play forced Valentin's goalkeeper Tostão do Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jacinto Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With an all-out effort, Valentin's Narciso Massa threw himself towards the right post 31 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Zé Roberto Coutinho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Mário Arce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Narciso Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Jacinto Pernambucano put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Tostão do Nascimento. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Kaká Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valentin's supporters rose to their feet, but Kaká Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Narciso Massa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Valentin's Zé Roberto Coutinho got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 58th play minute Jacinto Pernambucano came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Tostão do Nascimento. 1-3. If Jacinto Pernambucano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Narciso Massa came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Valentin's Zé Roberto Coutinho. But to his dismay, Zé Roberto Coutinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Zé Roberto Coutinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Areiao SC's Sílvio Luiz de Alcântara got a free kick in the 72nd minute. The supporters of Areiao SC booed when Valentin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kaká Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leopoldo Madureira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Tostão do Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Leopoldo Madureira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 82 played minutes Areiao SC got a freekick which was hit by Edinho de Mendonça. Zé Roberto Coutinho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Narciso Massa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Leopoldo Madureira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Valentin getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Adalmo Zanette hit a great ball. In the 95th minute of the match, Jacinto Pernambucano got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tostão do Nascimento was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Areiao SC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
