A collision led to Couves EC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Jardel Quaresma hit a great ball. Giuseppe Eger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdir Saldanha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 41 minutes into the match, Couves EC's goal looked a bit too open when Valdir Saldanha came free, but Giuseppe Eger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Giuseppe Eger was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Carlos Alberto Leme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinei Toledo in the 92nd minute of play. Couves EC's Cacá Meira got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cacá Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Couves EC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Relogio FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
