Otávio Quadros charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Otávio Quadros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gustavo Marinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo José Moreira in the 6th minute of play. In the 13th match minute, Pitombeiras SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardinho Marinho to maneuver through the defense. Paulo Faustino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Gustavo Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 23 minutes, Sérgio Trancoso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pitombeiras SS and the Piranhas SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Paulo José Moreira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 33 minutes of play Pitombeiras SS's Sérgio Trancoso was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Pitombeiras SS getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Sérgio Trancoso hit a great ball. Paulo Faustino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gustavo Marinho having to make a save. Paulo José Moreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Marinho having to interfere. Paulo José Moreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gustavo Marinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Faustino, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulo José Moreira to make the kick off. Paulo José Moreira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gustavo Marinho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. When Paulo José Moreira came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Piranhas SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo José Moreira couldn't finish the play. Paulo José Moreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustavo Marinho having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Osmar Goiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gustavo Marinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo José Moreira in the 66th minute of the match. Paulo Faustino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Gustavo Marinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 76th minute, Osmar Goiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rodriguinho Guimarães's late challenge caught a Pitombeiras SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodriguinho Guimarães helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Piranhas SS's Rodriguinho Guimarães got a free kick in the 79th minute. If Paulo José Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd match minute, Piranhas SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodriguinho Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th minute, Osmar Goiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paulo José Moreira received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gustavo Marinho came out and tried to block the shot, but Paulo José Moreira slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 88th minute. Gustavo Marinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulo José Moreira's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Paulo Faustino might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gustavo Marinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo Faustino ran back to his position shaking his head.
