The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giovani Ferraz during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 21st minute, Giovani Ferraz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvinho Hames took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frédson Novaes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Natã da Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Portella's protests and gave Natã da Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. Natã da Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. 34 minutes into the match, Portella's goal looked a bit too open when Frédson Novaes came free, but Silvinho Hames reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Portella's Silvinho Hames played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ademar Gaspar in the 36th minute of play. Natã da Rocha struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Cléberson Alves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portella. A very good chance. 41 minutes into the match, Canasvieiras's goalkeeper Cléberson Alves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agostinho de Castro. Agostinho de Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Cléberson Alves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Portella booed when Canasvieiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Vides didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Agostinho de Castro came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Portella fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agostinho de Castro couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frédson Novaes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute of the match Délio Britto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cléberson Alves showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Frédson Novaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvinho Hames having to interfere. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Portella's goalkeeper Silvinho Hames, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ademar Gaspar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 96th minute, Agostinho de Castro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Portella fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
