The supporters of Gaviaozinho booed when Cachimbo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Custódio das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute Jacinto de Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute of the match Denílson Severo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cláudio Leme showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Cachimbo's Jacinto de Mendonça got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 40 minutes into the match, Gaviaozinho's Raphael Valladares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cláudio Leme narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The wind increased when Jacinto de Mendonça made the kick off in the second half. Patrick Cruz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacinto de Mendonça in the 53rd minute of play. After 68 played minutes Gaviaozinho got a freekick which was hit by Serginho Botelho. Raphael Valladares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kléber Porto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cláudio Leme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raphael Valladares in the 80th minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, Cachimbo's goal looked a bit too open when Raphael Valladares came free, but Cláudio Leme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 96 minutes, Caco de Alcântara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gaviaozinho and the Cachimbo players grew even worse after the yellow card.
