Defuntos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pirarucu the free kick. In the 4th minute, Aírton Gaspar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Robinho Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Anísio Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 16 played minutes Pirarucu got a freekick which was hit by Silas Gonçalves. Anísio Damião stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robinho Carneiro's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute, Silas Gonçalves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gonçalo Carvalho during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th minute of the match Carlos Augusto Faria shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edu Melo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 25th minute Robinho Carneiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anísio Damião saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edu Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manolo Messias, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Erasmo Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anísio Damião having to interfere. Silas Gonçalves charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Silas Gonçalves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Anísio Damião made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erasmo Cearense in the 43rd minute. The supporters of Defuntos FC booed when Pirarucu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdo Secco didn't get a good kick on the ball.

A collision led to Pirarucu getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Paulo Renato Sena hit a great ball. Edu Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dário Leão, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 66th minute, Defuntos FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dário Leão fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Aírton Gaspar was shown his second yellow card after 66 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 70th minute, Robinho Carneiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Manolo Messias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
