An unexpected shot in the 8th minute by Tomé Linhares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Hortêncio Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandro de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mocambo SS's Hortêncio Paes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro de Castro in the 16th minute of play. If Sandro de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Mocambo SS getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Romário Cardoso hit a great ball. After 22 played minutes, Jequitaia AD's Mário de Amaral shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hortêncio Paes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Jequitaia AD reached it. In the 23rd minute, Dráuzio Quaresma left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mocambo SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Tomé Linhares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chiquinho Costa having to interfere. Dráuzio Quaresma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, Jequitaia AD's goal looked a bit too open when Tomé Linhares came free, but Chiquinho Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomé Linhares was the one to do the kick off. Chiquinho Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomé Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 58 minutes into the match, Mocambo SS's goalkeeper Hortêncio Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cícero Freire.
