Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) 6 minutes into the game, Gildo Loureiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Joao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ubari AD the free kick. Genílson da Rocha's late challenge caught a Ubari AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Genílson da Rocha helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ubari AD booed when Joao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Genílson da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Ubari AD's Nelson Palmeira in 16 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Michel Correia guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Genílson da Rocha was shown his second yellow card after 20 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ubari AD's zone, Eugênio Sampaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Fernando de Lara came out of the goal and Eugênio Sampaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eugênio Sampaio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eugênio Sampaio took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlos Fernando de Lara. Carlos Fernando de Lara dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Nelson Palmeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Michel Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Zeca Cardoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eusébio Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nelson Palmeira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Michel Correia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Palmeira in the 52nd minute of the match. A collision led to Joao getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Emílio Rosa hit a great ball. Edmundo Dracena was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 59 minutes into the match. 58 minutes into the game, one of Joao:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 66th minute, Durval Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ubari AD's Carlos Fernando de Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio Rosa in the 68th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valério Santana during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Valério Santana hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. 71 minutes into the match, Joao's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Palmeira came free, but Michel Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emílio Rosa hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. If Nelson Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joao's Michel Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelson Palmeira in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th match minute, Joao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emílio Rosa to maneuver through the defense. In the 88th minute, Cícero Dias ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michel Correia was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 93 minutes into the match, Joao's goal looked a bit too open when Nelson Palmeira came free, but Michel Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michel Correia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cícero Dias in the 94th minute. The Ubari AD supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ubari AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
