When Moisés Barros came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Carvoalzinho SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moisés Barros couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Juti's zone, Moisés Barros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Baptista came out of the goal and Moisés Barros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Olavo Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 34 played minutes Carvoalzinho SS got a freekick which was hit by Aírton Catarinense. After 35 played minutes, Juti's Sidnei Rodrigues shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Luiz Prata came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Juti reached it. Moisés Barros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

If Pedro Paulo Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the match, Carvoalzinho SS's goal looked a bit too open when Olavo Lopes came free, but Luiz Prata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carvoalzinho SS's Luiz Prata played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olavo Lopes in the 61st minute of play. José Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Prata having to interfere. José Queirós might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Prata. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Queirós ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 75th minute there was a penalty for Carvoalzinho SS. Dudu Rodrigues stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Zé Baptista. 1-1. After 79 minutes, Gláuber Garcia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Juti and the Carvoalzinho SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Juti's Gláuber Garcia got a free kick in the 80th minute. Dudu Rodrigues was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 81st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Olavo Lopes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Luiz Prata tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd minute of the match Dudu Rodrigues sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zé Baptista skillfully saved the ball. Carvoalzinho SS's Pedro Paulo Fernandes got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Olavo Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
