After a defensive mix-up in Meoas's zone, Simão Furtado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duarte de Lara came out of the goal and Simão Furtado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. João Paulo Diniz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalmo Vale in the 6th minute of play. Dalmo Vale took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Paulo Diniz. João Paulo Diniz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Dalmo Vale notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Guaicara SC's João Paulo Diniz. João Paulo Diniz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Duarte de Lara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Simão Furtado in the 18th minute. Guaicara SC's Simão Furtado got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. João Paulo Diniz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agenor Goiano in the 31st minute of play. Luís Guilherme da Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Guilherme da Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Guaicara SC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agenor Goiano in the 32nd minute of play forced Guaicara SC's goalkeeper João Paulo Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Guaicara SC defense, Agenor Goiano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Paulo Diniz. The Guaicara SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Paulo Diniz should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Meoas's Duarte de Lara got control of the ball when Simão Furtado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

If Aluísio Alagoano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dalmo Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Agenor Goiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 67 minutes into the match, Guaicara SC's goal looked a bit too open when Dalmo Vale came free, but João Paulo Diniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th minute, one of Guaicara SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Guaicara SC. The referee gave Meoas a penalty, 70 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Christiano Couto, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Guaicara SC's João Paulo Diniz. 0-4. Agenor Goiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. João Paulo Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg João Paulo Diniz managed to avoid a goal in the 97thth minute, when Meoas's Agenor Goiano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.
