Isaltino Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Alagoano having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jairo Rossi in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eduardo Alagoano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 24th minute, Isaltino Pombal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eduardo Alagoano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Rossi in the 28th minute of play. Roberto Matos kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Vágner de Mendonça made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Vasconcelos in the 35th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Itapixuna SC's zone, Isaltino Pombal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduardo Alagoano came out of the goal and Isaltino Pombal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Estrangeiro's Zé Roberto Pena got a free kick in the 41st minute. When Serginho Correia came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Itapixuna SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serginho Correia couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jairo Rossi was the one to do the kick off. Estrangeiro's Vágner de Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Estrangeiro from getting a goal against them. Estrangeiro's Vágner de Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Estrangeiro from getting a goal against them. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jairo Rossi took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eduardo Alagoano. Eduardo Alagoano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Estrangeiro walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
