In the 5th minute, Itapeipu's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Frank Medeiros fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 6 minutes, Augusto França mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itapeipu and the Fernando players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 6th minute, Augusto França hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frank Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Américo das Neves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hélder Esteves was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Américo das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Hélder Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Frank Medeiros came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Fernando fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Medeiros couldn't finish the play. Hélder Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Américo das Neves in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 25th minute Américo das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélder Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Fernando's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Neves came free, but Leopoldo Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 30 played minutes Itapeipu got a freekick which was hit by Matheus Vander. In the 31st minute of the match Dráuzio Bastos sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hélder Esteves skillfully saved the ball. Fernando's Américo das Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Fernando's zone, Jaime Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo Fonseca came out of the goal and Jaime Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leopoldo Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Neves in the 48th minute of the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Américo das Neves made a kick off. A collision led to Fernando getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Victor Mendonça hit a great ball. Leopoldo Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Neves in the 53rd minute of the match. Fernando's Leopoldo Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Neves in the 56th minute of play. In the 58th minute Américo das Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélder Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Américo das Neves scored 1-0 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hélder Esteves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 65 minutes, Frank Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fernando's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hélder Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Leopoldo Fonseca was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Lúcio Lara capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lúcio Lara really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. 73 minutes into the game, Fernando's Américo das Neves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hélder Esteves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. An unexpected shot in the 81st minute by Lúcio Lara got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Lúcio Lara struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Leopoldo Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapeipu. 91 minutes into the match, Frank Medeiros notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Itapeipu's Hélder Esteves. Hélder Esteves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lúcio Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Fonseca having to interfere. Itapeipu's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
