When Delfim Marques fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Votouro EC's protests and gave Delfim Marques a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th match minute, Votouro EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delfim Marques to maneuver through the defense. Valdo Fernandez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Geovânio Mesquita. Votouro EC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Delfim Marques got his second yellow card in the match during the 14th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Votouro EC's Delfim Marques got a free kick in the 15th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Dito Hermes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Parahyba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Votouro EC the free kick. In the 16th match minute, Parahyba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dito Hermes to maneuver through the defense. Hélio Viana might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vicente do Vale. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hélio Viana ran back to his position shaking his head. Geovânio Mesquita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ezequiel Arruda, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hélio Viana to make the kick off. Paulão Araújo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Geovânio Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 56th minute, Paulão Araújo made a precise shot to the right of Geovânio Mesquita. Votouro EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Hélio Viana didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the match, Votouro EC's goalkeeper Geovânio Mesquita had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ezequiel Arruda. Ezequiel Arruda blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geovânio Mesquita having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Paulão Araújo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geovânio Mesquita was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. After having played for 86 minutes, Ezequiel Arruda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Rômulo Vinhas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Votouro EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rômulo Vinhas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente do Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 97th minute, Hélio Viana left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Votouro EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. The Parahyba players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
